The Appia Construction Data Visualization (ACDV) web application provides a turnkey solution for ArcGIS organizations to share, aggregate, transform, and visualize Appia-sourced GIS data.
Project owners can use ACDV to collect GIS data from multiple Appia users, whether within their own organization or an external agency, and create a detailed dashboard that displays geo-enabled construction data in near-time for transparency, collaboration, and analysis.

Get started with ACDV
Log in and connect to your ArcGIS account
Once you have the ACDV web app, it's time to connect it to your ArcGIS account and deploy the solution.
When setting up the ACDV web app for the first time, clicking "Deploy solution" will create everything you need to start receiving project data from Appia users. Note that while it will create a projects viewer dashboard for you, the dashboard won't be populated until at least one Multi Project Overview with Project Items feature service is shared to your Source Group.
Learn more about sharing Feature Service data.
- From cdv.appia.net, sign in using your ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Portal credentials.
- Read through the End User License Agreement provided and click "Accept" to confirm that you accept the terms and conditions.
- Review the assets to be deployed and click START DEPLOYMENT.
Once all the assets are fully deployed, click “Continue to Dashboard” to navigate to the web app homepage.
Invite users and share data to your Source Group
You must invite Appia users to share their data to your Source Group in order to create a dashboard that aggregates and displays Appia-sourced project data. A Source Group was created for you during setup of the ACDV web app.
Invited users can be internal or external to your organization, as long as they have an Appia license.
Here is a visual aid demonstrating the procedural workflow for both the Group Owner and a Group Member. Note that if you are creating a multi-project dashboard to display your own data, you will act as both parties and follow both of the parallel paths.
Inviting users to your Source Group
As the Data Aggregator, you will invite Data Contributors to share their Appia-sourced project data to your Source Group.
- On your ACDV homepage, find the box called Source Group and click "View on ArcGIS Online".
- In ArcGIS, invite Appia users in your organization or other organizations to the Source Group. Anyone invited to the group will be able to share their “Multi Project Overview with Project Items” feature service to the Source Group and their project data will be displayed in the Group's aggregate dashboard.
Generate project dashboards
Once the Data Contributors in your Source Group have shared their Multi Project Overview with Project Items feature service to it, you can generate the Project and Project Details dashboards which aggregate your project data to provide near-time construction progress at-a-glance.
Navigating the Project dashboards
This is the Projects Dashboard. It displays a high-level overview of current projects and their most prominent details using the information sent from Appia to Esri when you turn on feature service 2, Multi Project Overview with Project Items.
Read about what’s displayed on the Projects Dashboard:
- Projects - A list of your current projects. You can select a project from here to view it on the map and display its details on the dashboard. You will also find a link that brings you to the same project in the Appia service.
- Project Details - See high-level project information at a glance.
- Authorized Amount - This big bold number lets you quickly see the project’s authorized amount.
- Approved Payments - This big bold number lets you quickly see how much construction on the project has been approved for payment so far.
- Fund Packages - This color-coded chart provides insight into the total authorized amounts for each fund package in your project.
- Fund Sources - This color-coded chart clearly shows where the project’s funding comes from and how much each source contributed.
- Deadlines - Easily refer to the project’s deadlines here.
This is the Projects Details Dashboard. It provides granular insight into the status of current projects and their more specific details using the Project Items information sent from Appia to Esri when you turn on feature service 2, Multi Project Overview with Project Items.
Read about what’s displayed on the Projects Details Dashboard:
- Projects - A list of your current projects. You can select a project from here to view it on the map and display its details on the dashboard. You will also find a link that brings you to the same project in the Appia service.
- Project Items - This section breaks down your project into its item-level details. You can see each item of the project along with its completion percentage, unit price, and links to view the item on the ArcGIS-generated map or in the Appia service.
- Project Percent Paid - This visual chart shows you what percentage of the project’s total authorized amount has been paid out.
- Fund Packages - This color-coded chart provides insight into the total authorized amounts for each fund package in your projects
- Fund Sources - This color-coded chart clearly shows where the project’s funding comes from and how much each source contributed.
- Item Quantities by Percent Complete - As subcontractors progress on their project items, this visual chart will update in near real-time (daily with the automatic data refresh and whenever a user manually refreshes the data) to show you what percentage of each item is complete.
