Bid item list in the Bid Express® service

Things to know 

  • You don't have to bid on optional components, but you must select the No Bid check box for those components. 

  • Alternate items or item lists may be awarded separately from the entire bid. You must bid the alternate list or items in order for your bid to be considered complete.

  • The Item List in a proposal consists of the items that are part of the project. You can export item lists so other members of your business can also work on them or to use estimation software.

  • If there's no quantity column in the item list, then the quantity of every item in the table is set to 1.

  • If the owner-agency entered a fixed price for an item or labor, that price displays in the Price field.  You can't change this value and it's used as part of your bid total.

  • If the owner-agency has entered sales tax, you'll see the tax percent displayed at the end of the item list.

Bid item list

  1. With your proposal open, note whether the Item List is optional or alternate. If it's optional, you can leave the Item List empty and select the No Bid check box.

  2. Note whether individual items are optional or alternate. Select the check box for any optional items that you are not going to bid. You must bid any alternate items.

  3. Enter values for the items and labor as needed.

  4. Click Save Draft for the solicitation when you're finished.

The draft of your bid is saved only on your local computer. You can't access the bid from any other computer, but you can export it.

Vendor entry item list

Some item lists and tables are set up for the vendor to give information to the agency.  For example, an agency may want to know what type of equipment you have and will include a table asking for this information as part of the solicitation.

These components don't include any information from the agency aside from the names of the fields that must be completed. Enter values in the fields like you would in any other component where information must be entered by the vendor. Vendor entry components are optional, but if you enter information in one field, then all fields in that row are required.
